Inmarsat has introduced the 505 Emergency Calling as a new safety facility from any FleetBroadband (FB150, FB250, and FB500) unit, on a global basis.  This facility is not GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress & Safety System) compliant; however it is a very useful and free service! 

By dialing the short code '505' from the FleetBroadband unit, you are immediately connected to one of the three Marine Rescue Co-ordination Centers (MRCC) located around the globe.
