Voice Capabilities
The Iridium intelligent handset, connected to INDOORS via the dedicated RJ-45 connector, provides full access to the Iridium network telephone and SMS services. With an internal ringer, two-cord length options, and easy-to-use phonebook feature, this handset mounts anywhere with a quick-release cradle.
The Sky Connect transceiver is equipped with a standard RJ-11 jack, which may be connected to one or more standard two wire telephones or cordless phone base stations.
These telephones provide the user an “Iridium dial tone” indicating that any telephone number in the world can now be dialed on the telephone instrument. The RJ-11 connection allows long cable runs to the phones (or base stations), permitting the transceiver to be located near the antenna for best performance. The RJ-11 connector may also be connected to a wide variety of PBX’s. This permits access to the Iridium network from any telephone attached to the PBX. Incoming Iridium calls can also be routed through the PBX. A computer may be attached to Sky Connect Indoors for e-mail and internet access. Sky Connect Indoors is also an ideal cost savings solution to use as a central base station when communicating with remote personnel using Iridium handheld devices.
Data Capabilities
DATA — Direct Internet access to email, web and FTP, SMS, Circuit Switched Data – dial up services, Short Burst Data, Fax, RUDICS, and SCADA. Minimize workload and maximize immediate communication. INDOORS is equipped with a serial data port that is compatible with typical PCs. This will support an RS-232 cable up to 50 feet (15 meters). With compression software, data speeds range from 2400-10,000 bps.
Iridium High Gain Antenna
Sky Connect INDOORS is typically coupled with a high gain helix antenna. This antenna’s profile assures excellent visibility of the Iridium network satellites and is designed with a waterproof housing and a threaded base for easy installation. Standard installations can use up to a 32-foot (10-meters) terminated cable to connect the antenna to the INDOORS transceiver. Higher performance cabling can provide even greater distances between the antenna and transceiver.
Power Supply
Sky Connect INDOORS™ is supplied with a universal AC power supply providing 10-32VDC to the transceiver. Approximately IA peak at 14 volts is required, 0.3A standby.
Diagnostic Lights
Sky Connect INDOORS is provided with several LED lights that show various device status conditions. They show signal strength, registration status, voice call status, data call status, off hook, and power supply status.
